The Golden Temple is the holiest Sikh shrine in the world.  Its foundation stone was laid by Mian Mir a Muslim saint.  The Golden Temple was completed in 1604 when the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was installed by Guru Arjan Dev Ji and Baba Budha Ji who was the first priest.  The Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji has been our perpetual Guru since 1708
